Are flat screen tv s sensitive to heat?

   I have heard that it would before. We had bought an HD TV and I was told that too much heat would damage it. If it isn’t too uncomfortable I guess you could try it.

   Well, it is certainly advisable to keep any electronic device as far away from a heat source as possible. The main reason electronic devices fail is due to the amount of heat that they produce themselves (they literally "burn out" after enough time) and you don’t want to add additional heat to the process.

   Both Plasma and LCD sets generate a good amount of heat. Most manufacturer’s say their TV sets will operate at temperatures to about 100°, but that doesn’t mean the heat is not accelerating the deterioration of the television set.

   The surface of most LCD sets is covered with a soft polarizing film. You certainly would not want to expose that to high direct heat. Hang a thermometer on the wall where you’re planning on putting the TV and see how hot that area gets.

   This is a pretty general question for electronics. Heat kills ALL electronics. As a rule of thumb, when the ambient temperature gets above 85 degrees Fahrenheit, you can count on shorting the life by 50% for every 10 degrees above that.
   If the ambient temperature gets very warm by the TV (especially over 95) then I wouldn’t do it.

   I love it when I see people put computers inside the desk with no ventilation (temperature is like 120 in there). And they wonder why there computer failed within a year.
